Upcoming AQHE International Conference

CANCELLED - 16th International Conference on
Assessing Quality in Higher Education

July 12-14, 2004
Glasgow/Edinburgh, Scotland

Thank you so much for your expression of interest in the 16th International Conference on Assessing Quality in Higher Education scheduled for Glasgow in July.  With colleagues at Glasgow Caledonian University we have made the difficult decision to cancel the conference in Glasgow scheduled for July 12-14, 2004.  While interest in the United States has been as strong as ever, the number of proposals and early registrations from Scotland, Europe, and other countries is not sufficiently large to suggest that the conference can be viable financially.

Although I understand the necessity of this decision, I regret it deeply.  As I am sure you can imagine, it is very difficult to end a 16-year tradition that has been so rewarding professionally and personally enjoyable.  I believe this series has initiated and strengthened international dialogue about assessment over these years since it began at Cambridge University in 1989.

Once again, let me say how much I appreciate your own interest in this conference.
