Office of Institutional Effectiveness

The Office of Institutional Effectiveness leads, coordinates, and supports selected PAII initiatives and projects related to examining, improving, and reporting on effectiveness campus-wide in key areas of IUPUI´s mission and strategic priorities.
The Office of Institutional Effectiveness is part of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Planning and Institutional Improvement (PAII). Specific responsibilities include:
Developing, expanding, and maintaining IUPUI´s electronic institutional portfolio, taking it beyond its initial demonstration phase to full implementation as a publicly accessible medium for supporting and documenting internal improvement and external accountability. Uses of the portfolio include documentation of planning, assessment, and improvement in mission-critical areas-especially teaching and learning and civic engagement-for institutional improvement, accreditation, annual reporting, and accountability to a range of key stakeholder groups.
These responsibilities are carried out in consultation and coordination with the Vice Chancellor for Planning and Institutional Improvement and with leaders and staff of other PAII units. The Office of Institutional Effectiveness also establishes and maintains linkages with other campus and unit efforts to demonstrate and improve institutional and educational effectiveness and participates in relevant campus committees and initiatives.
  • Coordinating accreditation-related activities with PAII staff and with key campus units and committees, and maintaining ongoing communication with the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
  • Disseminating work on the above through publications, presentations, and consultations at campus, regional, and national levels and coordinating collaborations with relevant national associations and initiatives.
  • Seeking external support for interinstitutional collaborative projects to develop innovative models and initiatives to support institutional effectiveness and accountability, with emphasis on exploring the potential of new technologies and media to enhance such efforts.
  • Developing written and electronic materials related to campus planning, assessment and improvement.
  • Carrying out additional responsibilities and projects related to improving and demonstrating institutional effectiveness.
